We are pleased to announce Katrelle Kindred, Director of War Paint, as our Guest Filmmaker for LUNAFEST! A native of South Los Angeles, Katrelle Kindred is an award-willing director, writer and producer. After teaching Language Arts in Compton, CA, she completed her graduate studies in Film Production at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.

LUNA has always believed in the power of women. From the beginning, we knew women had a role to play in shaping the future of the film industry so in 2000, LUNAFEST was born.

LUNAFEST was the first all-women travelling film festival to hit the screens and amplify the voices of strong women everywhere. The first event was small, but hopeful, screening in California. Today, there are screenings in more than 175 cities across the nation where the work of talented women filmmakers are showcased.

We’re stronger together. To continue our commitment to women filmmakers, we’ve partnered with Chicken & Egg Pictures. Chicken & Egg Pictures shares our core values of celebrating and championing women storytellers. The nonprofit organization provides mentorship and critical financial support to female nonfiction filmmakers. Not only have the films gained recognition, but have made an impact on social and economic issues. Together, LUNAFEST and Chicken & Egg Pictures are creating a strong community for women in the film industry.
