Our Projects

Partnership Projects

These projects can be partnerships with outside organizations or they can be a passion of a member or group of members. These are always growing and changing with the membership and the needs of the community.

The Pink Patch Project

The Pink Patch Project is a collaborative effort between SI Manhattan Beach and the Manhattan Beach Police Department. Nationally recognized, the Pink Patch Project entails the creation of vibrant pink versions of public safety officer uniform patches. These distinctive pink patches are proudly worn by members of participating agencies, including our esteemed MBPD, throughout the entirety of October – a month widely acknowledged as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Through the display of these pink patches, our officers initiate vital conversations within our community, advocating for early detection and emphasizing the ongoing fight against breast cancer. Symbolizing hope, resilience, and unity, these patches serve as powerful reminders of our collective dedication to standing by those impacted by this disease.

The proceeds garnered from the Pink Patch Project contribute to funding our Breast Cancer Comfort Bags. These bags serve as a beacon of support and solace for individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. By providing essential comfort and encouragement, we endeavor to uplift the spirits of those traversing this challenging journey.

The enduring partnership between SIMB and MBPD in the Pink Patch Project epitomizes the spirit of collaboration and compassion. Together, we aspire to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals affected by breast cancer, fostering a future devoid of this formidable illness.

We express profound gratitude for the unwavering dedication and support from both organizations. Together, we can continue to extend a helping hand and advocate for progress in the fight against breast cancer.

S-Club

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach takes great pride in our longstanding partnership with the Mira Costa High School "S" Club, spanning over 50 years. This enduring collaboration serves as a beacon of mentorship, guidance, and community service for teen girls within our local area.

Through our sponsorship of the "S" Club, we are afforded the invaluable opportunity to mentor and empower young women, nurturing their leadership skills and inspiring them to make a positive impact within their community. Each year, we provide guidance and support to the club and its board members, working hand in hand to facilitate their involvement in our events and initiatives.

Moreover, our partnership extends beyond mere advisory roles, as we actively engage with the "S" Club in their service projects. These projects are carefully chosen by the club members themselves, allowing them to exercise autonomy and contribute meaningfully to causes they are passionate about.

In addition, we are proud to incorporate the "S" Club into our Dream It, Be It workshops, providing these young women with access to valuable resources and mentorship opportunities aimed at helping them realize their full potential and pursue their dreams.

The partnership between Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach and the Mira Costa High School "S" Club embodies our shared commitment to empowering women and fostering a spirit of service and leadership within the next generation. Together, we strive to create a brighter future for our community and beyond.

Days For Girls

Days for Girls

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach is proud to partner with the Los Angeles Chapter of Days for Girls, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing sustainable feminine hygiene kits to girls in over 100 countries. In regions where menstrual cycles prevent girls from attending school, these kits are invaluable, enabling girls to reclaim days of education and stay enrolled in school.

Through our partnership, our Soroptimist club actively participates in Days for Girls' mission by providing volunteers for their monthly work days. Additionally, we extend our involvement by organizing local activity days, where club members and friends come together to contribute to the project. During these gatherings, participants engage in tasks such as washing, ironing, cutting, and sewing fabric to create the hygiene kits.

By collaborating with Days for Girls, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of girls around the world, ensuring they have access to the resources they need to stay in school and fully participate in society. Through our collective efforts, we are empowering girls to break barriers, pursue education, and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

We invite individuals who share our commitment to women's empowerment and education to join us in our efforts to support Days for Girls and make a lasting impact on the lives of girls worldwide.
