Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach (called SIMB for short) is part of an international service organization founded by women in business nearly 100 years ago. We belong to Camino Real Region which covers the area from Santa Barbara to Long Beach and to Pasadena with 23 other clubs serving their communities.

SIMB participates in several programs in the South Bay. Please refer to the “What We Do” tab here on the website. You may find that your time and interests allow you to help plan and execute career mentoring for high school girls, volunteer in an after-school program for fifth-grade girls, help interview and select women to receive cash grants for education, or assist in preparing sanitary hygiene supplies for teens so they can remain in school. We look forward to having you join us in service.

MEMBERSHIP EXPECTATIONS

  • Attend as many club meetings as possible.
  • Serve on at least one committee and participate in service projects and fundraising events. Each year the club may vote to make participation in a fundraiser to be mandatory, requiring us to purchase one or more tickets.
  • Pay annual dues and charges for meals that you attend when invoiced by the club.
  • Adhere to the club Bylaws.
  • Attend Camino Real Region conferences when you are able.

QUALITY CLUB EXPERIENCE
We strive to bring together women who share a desire to implement empowering programs to the women and girls in our community in an atmosphere of enjoyment and friendship. Everyone is encouraged to become familiar with all the projects of the club as well as what 80,000 Soroptimists in 130 countries are doing. Each year we select leaders for committees and administrative positions and we welcome people of all backgrounds who have skills to contribute and wish to develop new skills. We know there are a lot of other claims on the time of busy people and we hope to assist each member in making the most of her Soroptimist experience.
